Build Quality

The build quality for the Gen 2 DC Dry Herb Atomizer is great, and more importantly, it’s a huge improvement over Gen 1. The first version easily overheated and was built using glue, whereas this one is designed to stay cooler and is completely rebuildable. Being rebuildable has many obvious advantages, and one of them is the fact that it means the glue is gone.

The design of these are very interesting. The coils are embedded into the side of the chamber that you load, and appear to be covered with a thin layer of what we assume is ceramic. The bottom of the chamber has airflow holes that draws the air through the chamber, and the mouthpiece/cover as additional holes that your vapor comes through. These holes aren’t the smallest in the world, so you don’t want to grind your herb to finely unless you enjoy the occasional mouthful of vaporized herbs.

You can use this with wattage or TCR modes, though it works much better with TCR. When using it in wattage mode you have to constantly pulse the power button. You should also be aware that this will suck up a lot of battery, regardless of what mode you use. This is just the nature of using a mod to provide continuous heat to the chamber.

Overall, it’s obvious that a lot of work went into making this atomizer.

Vapor Quality

Here’s the thing. You can get good vapor out of this. But you can also get bad vapor and smoke out of it as well. If you follow the directions exactly and have a mod that you can do the temperature control with, you can get vapor with flavor that is actually pretty impressive for an atomizer on a box mod. You can even get good flavor using the wattage modes.

But it’s extremely easy to overheat the chamber and combust a little as well. This is more likely when you first start using it. As you use it more and get used to the quirks of using a dry herb atty, you’ll get better at avoiding this problem.

Conclusion

If you have a mod and really want an atty that will vape dry herb, this product is an excellent choice. There aren’t many options that can actually vaporize dry herb, but this is one of them.

With that being said, you would get much better results from a dedicated dry herb vaporizer, especially in regards to overall flavor, avoiding combustion, and battery life. So if you are just in the market for the ability to vape dry herbs and using a mod you already have isn’t important to you, consider a separate unit.

Even if you don’t have enough money to get a premium unit like the Arizer Solo 2 or the Utillian 720, there are options like the Utillian 420 Vaporizer that carry an extremely attractive price tag.
