Dr Dabber Boost Black Edition: Breakdown

Quality

Build Quality

Build Quality

The overall build quality of the Boost Black Edition is of high quality, it is well-designed device that is higher than average quality. The Boost Black kit comes with three domeless nails and a magnetic carb cap. The nails included are made of titanium, ceramic, and quartz.

There are a number of portable rigs that only come with one type of nail, which means that the Dr. Dabber rigs are more versatile devices.

The glass piece that comes with the Black edition is of good quality as well, it is made of glass so it can break if handled incorrectly but as far as glass pieces go it’s pretty tough.

Also included with the black edition is a limited edition keychain, a medical grade silicon storage container, and alcohol wipes. Dr. Dabber manufactures their products to high standards and this is seen in their entire product line.

Vapor Quality

The vapor quality that the Boost Black puts out is solid, I was very happy with my sessions and the dense flavorful vapor I was able to produce with it. As we touched on above the Boost comes with 3 ‘domeless’ nails which allow you to use the device for specific preferences.

If you prefer to use it to have a more lengthy dab session you can use the ceramic coil. If you want a traditional dab tasting hit I suggest using the quartz coils. Finally, if you are chasing clouds and want to use a coil that has the highest heat retention you will want to use the titanium coil.

The coils are a bit larger than your typical coils and the large and flat surface gives them the ability to take on bigger dabs. The flat surface design also heats up quickly which ultimately creates more dense vapor than domed nails.

When talking about vapor quality with the Boost models you need to touch on the glass water filtration which helps to deliver a slightly cooled down smoother dab hit. Overall the vapor quality of the Boost Black impressed me and is definitely above the industry average.

Design

look-and-feel

Look and Feel

The Boost Black Edition is pretty small and compact (atleast for an erig). The design is a good size in my opinion I wouldnt want a portable rig to be really ny smaller, this size is comfortable to hold and feels to me like a good weight.

The package of the Black Edition comes with a carrying case which makes it easy to transport. You can tell from checking out the images on this page that the Black Edition is subtle and simple.

Discreetness

Discreetness

The Boost Black has a subtle design that in appearance for a portable dab kit it could be seen as being discrete, however it is a relatively large vapor producing vaporizer that also requires more work than simply raiging it to your lips and taking a draw.

As you are probably aware a rig requires you to use a carb cap which in itself is a bit of a awkard thing to do in a public setting. The carb cap and water attachement and vapor production I would say is enough to make this unit not discrete. The carry case however is a good way to keep it hidden and secure while you travel.

Difficulty

Ease of Use

The degree of difficulty with the Boost Black is relatively easy. This type of vaporizer does take a quick tutorial video t learn how to quickly use it or a read over this pragraph will suffice. With normal wax pens and dry herb vaporizers you just need to pack the oven turn it on and rais it to your lips. An erig like the Boost is a bit different.

First of all this device is designed for just was concetrates and oils, not for dry herbs. To power it on you press the power button 3 times, the same to turn it off. You will need to put some water in the glass piece, and connect it onto the top. You should run the device with no material for a moment or two to give it a clean.

Than when you are ready you hold the fire button to get the nail hot and then you use the dab tool to place the wax/oil onto the nail and then use the carb cap to trap the heat in and funnel the vapor. You can raise and lower the carb cap to clear the vapor as needed.

Portability

Portability

The Boost Black Edition is a portable device and this is the reason why anyone would choose to puchase a portable rig over a more powerful desktop enail. The Boost as we mentioned before comes with a carrying case which gives you some protection while bringing the unit on the go.

The Boost is by no means a pocket vape but it will be a good vaporizer to bring around with you on a trip that you have the space to bring it. The battery with the Boost will get you about 35 uses per charge giver or take 10 based on the length of your draws.

Conclusion

Overall I would say that the Boost Black is a solid device to get, the vapor production is impressive and the device is well built and comfortable to hold and use. The larger than average nails which come in ceramic, quartz, and titanium give you the versatility to switch up your hit styles and experience your dabs in multiple ways.

If you are going to be vaping concentrates than I would say this is a great little wax devoce to purchase. Having said that there are a few other great pen options such as the Thunder 2.

If you are looking for a unit that will give you a rig like experience for waxes and water filtration for dry herb, we recommend checking out the Focusvape Tourist 2-in-1 vaporizer.
