Hello and welcome to our review of the iFocus FocusVape Vaporizer (try and say that 10 times fast). This unit has a pen shape design but it is much larger than a standard pen (more like a novelty oversized pen).

However, it is packed full of useful features that we haven’t seen all in 1 unit before, which is exciting. There’s a large ceramic heating chamber, simple controls, leather grip exterior, and more. Read on to find out how mighty this large pen-style vaporizer is.

iFocus has also released the FocusVape Pro; design and functionality of the Pro is the same but it features an LED display and precise temperature control. So, if you like the sound of the FocusVape but want to spring for some extra functionality, go Pro.

Product Pros

  • Large ceramic heating chamber
  • Smooth vapor
  • Haptic feedback
  • Very easy to use

Product Cons

  • Long charging times
  • Unit can get hot
  • Bigger than most pen vapes

FocusVape Vaporizer Review: Breakdown

Quality

Build Quality

Build Quality

This is the first time we have seen a unit from iFocus and we have to say we are quite impressed with the manufacturing quality from this company. All parts are nicely machines and fit together with ease. The unit has a little bit of weight to it which gives it a quality feel. The unit is finished with a silica gel exterior that helps resist heat and scratches. We are happy to see that the unit comes standard with a pyrex glass mouthpiece for improved flavor quality. However, this does make the unit a bit more fragile; luckily, iFocus provides you with a replacement in the box.

Vapor Quality

We were pleasantly surprised when testing this unit with how good the vapor quality is. From the outside the heating chamber looks like your run of the mill ceramic heating chamber. However what the FocusVape has that a lot of units that use this type of chamber are missing is airflow. The FocusVape actually has a ring just above the temperature settings to adjust airflow to the unit. With the airflow open you are able to get smooth, virtually unrestricted pulls from the unit. Unlike other units which require you to sip on the unit, the FocusVape gives the option to make the unit a sipper or a ripper. I preferred to use the unit with full airflow and the result was nice large smooth clouds of vapor every time I exhaled.

look-and-feel

Look and Feel

As previously mentioned, this unit is in a pen shape; however, it is much larger than your traditional “pen-vape”. I would akin it closer to an oversized novelty pen used by clowns at a children’s birthday party. Size overall really is not an issue, as it’s still small enough to be portable. The silica gel finish feels nice in the hands and keeps the unit from getting too uncomfortable to hold. However after long sessions we did notice the unit got quite warm around the heating chamber. You can just shift your hands further down the unit but it is worth noting.

Discreetness

Discreetness

Unfortunately this is one category where the FocusVape is lacking. The size of the unit means you will stand out from those who are using normal sized vape pens. While it may not raise a whole lot of suspicion and most will pass it off as an e-liquid vape, you are still going to gather looks from putting a large phallic shaped object in your face. And if you opt for the “coffee” color you are really going to get some looks. We  recommend checking out the Smite Plus for more discreet sessions.

Difficulty

Ease of Use

There is just one button to operate the FocusVape, which is something we have seen on other models like the Utillian 651. Because there is only one button and not many moving parts this unit is very easy to use right out of the box. There are 6 pre-set temperature settings so you can customize your sessions and achieve the consistency of vapor you enjoy. The unit even has an internal memory which will turn the unit back on to your last pre-set temperature. Another feature we really liked the addition of is haptic feedback. When the FocusVape reaches temperature it buzzes to indicate you are ready to draw. This is a more useful feature than it sounds because it means you do not need to stare at the unit while you are waiting for it to reach temperature. It’s especially useful when outside on bright sunny days where it can sometimes be quite difficult to see even the brightest LED light.

Portability

Portability

As we have mentioned several times this article, this is not your standard “pen-sized” vaporizer; it may be pen-shaped but is nowhere close in terms of size. It is still portable and can easily fit in a bag or purse. However. it’s not going to be fully concealed when putting it in your pocket. We do like that it has a removable 18650 battery and an internal and external charger. This way you can charge and carry multiple batteries with you for a day out.

Compatible with ZEUS Iceborn
This vaporizer is compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system engineered by Canadian vape manufacturer ZEUSArsenal. The Iceborn is designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The vapour produced is ultra smooth and crisp and because of ice cooling, instead of water filtration, there is no loss of efficiency. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of this vaporizer and is a highly recommended vaporizer accessory.

Conclusion

A very strong showing from iFocus, it’s hard not to find things to like about the FocusVape. While not the smallest unit on the market, it is packed with useful features which make its shortcomings easy to look over. We loved the inclusion of airflow control and haptic feedback, and were very surprised at the quality of vapor this unit produces. If this vaporizer is something you’d like to use to lose your focus, you can pick your Focusvape from TVape.com. If you the Focusvape looks interesting to you, but you are also into waxes, we suggest checking out the Focusvape Tourist, which is a unique 2 – 1 vaporizer capable of handling herbs & concentrates.
