Hippie Rebel Vaporizer Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

Unlike some vaporizer manufacturers that are very passionate about their product, the Hippie Rebel is just an off the shelf device that works ok. The company that sells this model did not manufacture the product themselves and are therefore not totally indulged in making the best product for their customers. The overall performance is about average and the build quality is also about average.

If you are primarily looking for a compact convection vaporizer that is this unit’s best aspect. Its heating method paired with its size. The battery life follows suit with the rest of the build and is just below average.

Vapor Quality

The vapor flavor that the Hippie Rebel produces is actually pretty good – this is thanks to the full convection style heating that this little unit uses. The issue still being that it will not produce very much on the 30 to 40 minutes of vaping time you will get on a single charge. Each session is also required to be at least a few minutes and with convection it needs a bit more time to heat your materials before vaping.

Again the are where this unit shines is that it is one of the less expensive convection vaporizers and convection produces less tar and carcinogens as it is a method less likely to combust your material. If you are looking for one of the most affordable convection units that is extremely pocket size this could be a good option.

The Hippie Rebel does offers a good temperature range. With the Rebel you can adjust the temperature using the up and down arrows and after about 15 seconds from first starting the unit it will be ready to draw from.

Hippie Rebel Profile

look-and-feel

Look and Feel

The Hippie Rebel overall is an average device that is not made of anything super fancy. It is a budget vaporizer that is made to be compact and affordable for the convection heating method it boasts. If you are on a budget another medium to low cost device that performs pretty well is the Utillian 721 which we recommend over the Hippie Rebel.

The Utillian 721 is compatible with the Zeus Iceborn – a new popular accessory for cooling your draws and adding points to the vapor profile.

Discreetness

Discreetness

The convection heating method combined with the option to set lower temperatures combined with the small size of the device does make this unit pretty discrete in comparison to many of the more powerful portable vaporizers.

The Hippie Rebel is small enough that you can have the whole unit hidden in your hand and when done it’s easy enough to slip into your pocket unseen.

It is not instant heat so you will need to be sure to have at least about a minute of time to get a good draw or two.

Difficulty

Ease of Use

The Hippie Rebel is not a difficult device to get used to, it is actually quite simple. It does not use the one button setup that we are seeing with a lot of vapes and has two extra buttons for temperature adjustments.

To turn the Rebel on you press the main button 5 times and you can also do the same to turn the device off. The other two buttons as we’ve touched on are for increasing and decreasing the temperature.

To fill the oven you just slide the mouthpiece off the top to reveal and load the chamber with dry herbs. Before using your device the first time it’s a smart idea to fully charge your battery and to run the device through a heating cycle with no material in it to burn off any excess chemicals from the build process.

Portability

Portability

The portability of the Hippie Rebel is again just average. There is one aspect making the Rebel very portable and another holding it back. The overall size of the unit is very compact, where vape pens are longer the Rebel is shorter and where other portable vapes are larger in all regards the Hippie Rebel is a small device. The battery however is a bit weak and does not last as long as you would like ina  portable vaporizer.

Depending on what it is you are looking for this device could be enough to get you through the day. If you are looking for a device that has a more powerful battery life than we recommend you have a look at the Utillian 721 or the Zeus Smite.

Conclusion

Overall the Hippie Rebel does perform well in terms of flavor and the convection heating is definitely an area where this device shines. The overall build quality and the battery life is holding this unit down. The fact that there are more than just this one version of this vaporizer also makes it less special and less desirable.

If you are set on a convection vaporizer and are on a tight budget than the Hippie maybe something you will enjoy, it does work well for low to medium use cases. If you have a bit more of a budget to work with the Firefly 2 is a great choice for convection vaping, and for a high performing budge vaporizer we suggest having a look at the Utillian 721.
