Kanger Topbox Mini Review - Tip Top VapeBuild Quality80%Vapor Quality85%Versatility78%Portability77%80%Overall ScoreKanger is known for making some high quality vapes, but lately they’ve been putting out so many that it can be hard to keep track of them all! The Kanger Topbox Mini is most closely related to Kanger’s Subox mini, but comes with some important upgrades that differentiate it. Most notably, you’ll be getting temperature control with the Topbox. Another nice upgrade is the Toptank Mini over the original Subtank Mini, because the Toptank gives you the ability to fill it from the top. Product Pros Temperature control Top-filling tank Good vapor production Good vapor Easy to use Product Cons Can’t update firmware Tank leaks Kanger Topbox Full Kit Review: Breakdown Quality Build Quality The Topbox is made very well, and there really are quite a bit of upgrades over the Kbox. If you look at the Topbox and Subox side-by-side, you’ll understand why I keep comparing these two: they look almost identical, and it’s important to understand that despite visual similarities, they’re actually quite different. The overall construction seems to be a bit better, including the fact that the 510 pin is now spring loaded. The Topbox also offers temperature control for nickel, titanium, stainless steel, and even nichrome. The top output for the mod is set at 75 watts. The other large change is changing the filling system of the tank, while the Subox features a bottom fill system, the Topbox as the name indicates is a top filling system. This is a very big change and greatly increases the convenience of the vape when you need to fill your juice. There are a lot of tiny mods out there that sacrifice quality and features in order to fit everything into a smaller package, but this isn’t the case with the Topbox. Overall, this is a very well made device and you shouldn’t run into any problems. We’ve noticed a trend towards including the ability to upgrade the firmware of vapes through their USB chargers, but the Topbox doesn’t seem to have this feature. This is a relatively small complaint, but it’s still worth pointing out. Vapor Quality Vapor quality is very good. The clouds are nice and big, and the flavor is also great. The kit includes three coils, and this gives you plenty of room to play around and find a combination that you enjoy. With a wattage range that goes up to 75 watts, even cloud chasers will be able to get an enjoyable experience out of the Topbox. If you’ve read through some of our other reviews, you’ll know that we’re big fans of temperature control here at Vapesterdam. The reason that this is such a nice feature is that it allows you to get a consistent experience throughout a session. Heat can actually change the resistance of coils over time, so the temperature settings will make sure that you aren’t unintentionally getting stronger hits towards the end of your session. This also helps avoid dry hits and burned out coils which will save you money in the long run. Design Versatility This is definitely a pretty versatile vape. With a wattage range up to 75 watts and four different temperature control settings, most people should be completely satisfied. The nichrome temperature control setting is especially interesting, as this is one of the first smaller mods that we’ve seen include this. Despite the range of options, this is a very easy vape to use. The menu is straightforward and easy to navigate, so beginners should have no problem playing around and finding settings that they enjoy. Portability The small size and removeable battery make this a very portable vape, but the nicest feature in my opinion is actually related to the tank. Top-filling tanks are extremely undervalued in my opinion, because they make refilling while out and about much easier than normal. With top-filling tanks, you don’t have to remove the tank from the mod in order to put more juice in. This means that as soon as you start running low, you can easily fill it right back up. From my experience, this cuts down significantly on the amount of time it takes to refuel, but also on the overall mess created while doing so. Conclusion The Topbox is definitely a vape worth considering. I know that it looks a lot like its predecessor, but there really are a ton of upgrades that make this a much better vape. I especially enjoyed the temperature control and the top-filling tank. While there are a good deal of options, I’d say this is best geared for new users who are looking for an all-in-one kit that can get them introduced to vaping. Its extremely easy to use, and you get a good range of coils to experiment with. If you are chasing the best performance out of the smallest size possible, then I’d suggest also checking out our review on the iStick Pico by eLeaf. The Pico is so small that the actual mod is smaller than the 18650 battery that powers it! They had to include a cap on the top just to hold the battery in. We highly recommend grabbing one from TVape.com, they have free shipping over $100 and a large selection of e-juices. Thanks for reading our Kanger Topbox Mini Review! Reminder!
