Today we look at one of 2 new portable vaporizers brought to us by Storz and Bickel, the makers of the famous Volcano Vaporizer! This unit is a powerful portable with a digital display and 2 lithium ion batteries to power it. This unit looks like it’s supposed to be the bigger brother to the Crafty Vaporizer, so let’s get to the Mighty vaporizer Review to see if this unit is really more powerful than it’s counterpart! Product Pros Accurate temperature adjustment on unit big heating chamber Great vapor quality Easy to use Good battery life Product Cons Auto shut-off is a bit annoying Unit is a bit too big Mighty Vaporizer Review: Video Mighty Vaporizer Review: Breakdown Quality Build Quality It’s a testament to your strength as a manufacturer when you can make a unit almost completely out of plastic and still make it well machined and have it feel like high quality. This unit may not be made of materials that we’d usually associate with a high-quality unit, but seeing as we’re dealing with Storz and Bickel, we’re sure the materials have been checked, tested, then checked again to make sure they’re safe and of the highest quality. The display screen is very clear and bright, making for easy readability and the buttons used to increase and decrease the temperature are responsive and feel very sturdy. Vapor Quality Vapor quality with this unit is amazing to say the least. The first thing I tried it with was extracts, and I can safely say that I’ve never tasted more pure a flavor or a more smooth vapor in a convenient way from a unit than I did from the Mighty. The vapor from the smallest amount of wax lead to nice clouds that satisfied and amazed me. The unit is efficient in extraction and the taste is pure despite the plastic mouth piece. It was a stunning revelation for sure and made for an awesome session. When it comes to vapor quality, Storz and Bickel managed to infuse a portable with Volcano-like vapor quality. Design Look and Feel This unit doesn’t look amazing. Like the Crafty, it seems to have been designed to do it’s job and little else, like a worker ant. It’s built to do what it was built to do and to do it well, and it does that. Beyond the lack of visual appeal, the unit feels very high quality and all the parts feel like they were perfectly designed to fit with each other in a seamless fashion. It does, however, end up feeling like it’s a bit bigger than it needs to be, which is a result of the 2 batteries in this unit instead of 1. Discreetness The added battery takes away a great deal from the unit’s ability to be discreet. It’s bigger than you’d really want a portable to be because of the 2 lithium ion batteries and it makes it impossible to hide in your hands unless you’re 10 ft. tall with hands to match. The display also doesn’t help to make the unit more discreet as the light from it is a bit eye catching. Ease of Use This unit is pretty self explanatory when it comes to using it. Load it, turn it on and set your temperature, then wait for the unit to come to temperature and enjoy! The problem with using this unit comes up sixty seconds later when the unit turns itself off. The auto shut-off will turn the unit off after 60 seconds of the temperature being reached, no buttons being pushed, and no draws being taken. This is a bit of an annoyance which is easily avoided by pressing the button every 45 seconds or so, or taking a draw every seconds but we wish we didn’t have to resort to that. The unit isn’t hard to turn back on and does so quickly, but it’s still not the most ideal situation we can imagine and almost feels like the unit is rushing you though our session. Portability Due to the extra battery and the display screen, the unit is not only wider, but taller. It’s not any thicker than the Crafty, but the added width and length will leave you struggling to find a pocket that can easily handle it. Even if you do, the added weight will assure you notice it’s presence. The added battery life of the unit is the kind of thing that would normally make it better for carrying around, but the size really sort of defeats it to that end. Also because of the convection heating chamber, the battery still does not last as long as a unit that has the same number of internal batteries (like the Smite Vaporizer), but works with conduction technology. The convection heating chamber is great to get a massive draw out of the unit without much resistance and consistent vapor. Vapologist sacrificed his warranty to open his Crafty, which has the identical heating chamber as the Mighty vaporizer. So if you are curious what the heating chamber looks like inside, watch his video. Compatible with ZEUS IcebornThis vaporizer is compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system engineered by Canadian vape manufacturer ZEUSArsenal. The Iceborn is designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The vapour produced is ultra smooth and crisp and because of ice cooling, instead of water filtration, there is no loss of efficiency. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of this vaporizer and is a highly recommended vaporizer accessory. Conclusion There were good points and bad ones when it comes to the Mighty. It’s not to say that it’s a bad vaporizer, it’s actually pretty amazing, but the trade off of the display and the extra battery power ends up hurting this unit more than it helps it. It still blows many vaporizers out of the water, and this unit is great for people who don’t care about the loss of discretion and portability, but for us, the Mighty is bigger, but the Crafty is better. Of course that is generally speaking and there are folks that mostly vape indoors and find much more use for the extra battery in the Mighty. Editors Note: If you are looking for a convection vaporizer but at a much more affordable price be sure to check out the Utillian 720, you can check out our direct comparison to the crafty here. We also wanted to suggest you check out a cool, new the vapor filtration device, called the ZEUS Iceborn that makes a great addition to the Mighty. We recently reviewed it and were blown away by how it cools down even some of the hottest vapour with ice, bumping up its vapor quality by 2 points! The Iceborn is also much more efficient than filtering your vapor with a bong, and allows you to blow massive frosty clouds. You can read our review of the Iceborn here! If you would like to buy the Mighty Vaporizer, make sure you order from an authorized retailer! We recommend purchasing it tax free from this Vaporizer Store who will even throw in a FREE high quality grinder! Thanks for reading our Mighty Vaporizer Review! Reminder! Reply Dan C October 23, 2014 We’d say they’re about equal. Since they both use the same heating chamber design and size, the competition comes down to power, and the mighty can just do it longer before needing to be charged again. Either way, you won’t be using the Mighty and wishing it had the Crafty’s vapor quality or vice-versa. The vapor quality is outstanding n both but the power used in the mighty lets it heat up faster and stay vaporizing longer. We hope that answers your question! Reply sam October 23, 2014 hi great website and reviews nice and clear.. one quick question what weight value can this vaporizer hold in the chamber and how many draws did you get ? Reply Dan C October 27, 2014 Hi Sam! Thanks, we’re glad you like the review! To answer your first question, we’ll be creating a post soon that outlines the amount of herb each vaporizer’s herb chamber can hold by weight. When that comes out, we’ll make sure to include the Mighty and the Crafty there and you can get a solid answer! As for how many draws we got, that’s hard to say. Probably somewhere around 15-20 draws with a small amount of herb in the chamber. A full chamber should yield much more than that. I hope that helps some, Sam! Reply jereomy October 29, 2014 Thanks for the great review… Does the flavor of the smoke change throughout your smoking session.. Thanks a lot Reply Dan C October 31, 2014 The flavor is pretty much consistent through the whole session. We didn’t notice many changes in flavor, it was pure from start to finish with the slight addition of a tasty/nutty flavor near the end of our session. Reply GT December 2, 2014 There’s one thing you should know that isn’t discussed. Other reviews say the opposite but now I wonder if they are plants. It made me want to return it. The plastic DOES have an effect. I had read reviews that talked about an initial, 15-20 min, plugged in on highest heat “cleanse”. I did that while even drawing the air through occasionally (without inhaling). There was still a plastic taste after cooling, restart, and vape. A guest, who wasn’t vaping, actually commented that they could smell the plastic smell with the herb. It IS a good machine. Your best bet, though, would be to do some pre-use steps. First is to do the cleanse. Then do some regular heat, bottom shelf herb sessions where you draw through but blow out without inhaling. This should give the cooling chamber a bit of a coating and the plastic taste will be buried. Reply Dan C December 2, 2014 Thanks for the comment GT! The unit does have a “new vaporizer” taste at higher temperatures right out of the gate, but it quickly dissipates after a few uses. We didn’t notice it because I tend to vaporize at lower temperatures (350 Fahrenheit with the Mighty to be exact) and the flavor didn’t present itself before the unit was broken in by me. At really high temperatures, I don’t doubt that you’d taste a bit of an odd flavor, especially in the first few uses. What temperature are you vaporizing at? Has anybody else experienced the same thing? Reply Wes December 18, 2014 I too broke my new Mighty in at lower temperature (340 deg) and gradually brought it up to full temp. The herb got nutty then cooked/harsh. At full temp (410 deg) i noticed a a little plastic taste. Mild, but noticeable. The taste was non-existant after repeating the same cycle. I really like the Mighty. I purchased it to replace a couple Wispr’s and also replace my Plenty while it goes for repair/replacement. So far so good. The auto shut off is mildly annoying, but I like it when using the Mighty unplugged and it shuts off to save battery life. It never fails, the mind wanders and one forgets, before you know it the battery is drained. So this has worked in that respect. If ambient temperature is low the auto off feature isn’t activated because each draw lowers the temp enough to not allow the minute timer to kick in. Worked great in cool outdoor weather. Also if two people are using it it cools down enough to not allow auto shut off to kick in as easy. Solo it turns off on me after just about every draw…Unless I adjust temp up or down before the minute is up. Two hours to drain battery and two to charge… Best “portable” vape I have used/owned. It will not replace the Storz and Bickle Plenty (which replace my Volcano), but good-bye Whispr’s. Dan C December 19, 2014 Thanks for the comment, Wes! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the Mighty! It’s an awesome unit that does need to be broken in a little but works like a dream once you’ve done that. The shut off is a great battery saver, but we also found that we had trouble engaging it. It seems some don’t have that issue while some do. Thankfully the unit turns on and heats up so quickly that it really doesn’t cause much of a problem. Arthur February 27, 2015 Hi Dan, I really enjoyed your review on the Aromed and the Mighty which led me to try out both and then stick with the latter out of obvious portability reasons. What I can’t really figure out is how to use solid materials and concentrates. Do I need to put the big steel screen into the tray first and then put the material on top or is it supposed to be other way around so that the steel screen protects the screen leading to the mouthpiece? Cheers, Arthur Reply Dan C February 27, 2015 Thanks for the comment, I’m glad the reviews are helping you out! Waxes and the like, the way I use the unit is I put the liquid pad in the unit and let the unit heat up for about 5 minutes. Once the pad is warm, i put the wax on it and it just melts into the pad. Then I put the top on and just enjoy! As a general tip, avoid letting anything sticky or that melts get on that screen on the bottom of the heating chamber because it could get into the unit and cause damage. I hope that helps, Arthur! Reply Arthur February 28, 2015 Hey, thanks a lot for the quick help. You’re really doing an awesome job here Cheers, Arthur Dan C March 16, 2015 Thanks for the kind words, Arthur! We’re happy people like you are enjoying the site and finding useful info here! Rob Geez February 8, 2016 TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT Hello all, After six months of changing the temperature, going through several strains, different quantities vaped, I finally want to share my (unfortunately) negative opinion on the Mighty vaporizer by Storz and Bickel. One huge problem, just like the worst tabletop vaporizer, Storz and Bickel’s Volcano, THE MIGHTY CONSUMES THE PRODUCT TOO QUICKLY. The company is the quickest to use it’s superior “German Engineering ” to sell its’ vaporizers, but, a decade after the Volcano has quietly and slowly drained the pockets/time of their customers, Storz and Bickel have yet to figure out that you cannot have the herb chamber being the actual heater chamber. Your tree is significantly consumed by the time it heats up. You’ll get a maximum of two real pulls per vape. I’ve consumed over 150 grams in one month. If you have a really high THC tolerance, the Mighty IS NOT THE VAPORIZER FOR YOU. You will be under constant frustration. I live in France, so I got it delivered to my house for free, but still costing a whopping 350 EUROS, THAT’S EUROS. I’m truly upset. I’ve become very familiar with over 10 different portable vaporizers, and I honestly feel the best one for the true weedhead is VAPIR NO. 2, I have yet to try the latest by Vapir. The reason this is because it is a true vaporizer, the heating chamber is MASSIVE, you can control the temperature to the degree, charge while vaping, and the taste and high is almost too much., i.e., perfect! The Mighty is better in three areas: 1. It never has that “plastic ” taste (Vapir has it when it’s new ). 2. It is very sturdy. 3. Despite common opinion, the Mighty is very portable. I carry it in my pants pockets, get into every club and bar, and even in the inside suit pocket. 4. After about 18 months, the NO. 2 will start to burn the tree. I can tell now this wont happen with the Mighty because of it’s. ..superior engineering. Honestly. I had to find a way to cut the oil pad in half horizontally and put it under the filter right over the heating unit. This is the only way my vape will last 60 seconds, if I lightly fill it. Like the Volcano, it packs ONE mighty pull, this is now the bong of portable vaporizers. THE MIGHTY IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY Reply Leave a Reply to Dan C Cancel Reply Connect with Enter your WordPress.com blog URL http://.wordpress.com Proceed Your email address will not be published.
