Prohibited 5th Degree Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

The build quality for the 5th Degree is very good. A swappable cartridge system is used to make this compatible with both dry herbs and waxes. The dry herb chamber is big and made from stainless steel, while the wax cartridge has a dual quartz rod and coil atomizer. Both of these cartridges are held in place magnetically, allowing them to slide on and off the base easily.

The exterior is simple but sleek, and there is only one button on the entire unit. This button controls both the power and the voltage/temperature level. When using it in wax mode, your voltage options are 3.7v, 4.2v, or 4.7v. When using the dry herb cartridge, your temperature options are 390°F, 415°F, or 440°F.

The battery life is also good. It performs best in wax mode, but will last for at least a full day when using it in either mode.

Vapor Quality

The vapor quality was a lot better than I expected. Vaporizers that advertise the ability to be used with multiple materials are usually a huge let down, delivering poor performance for at least one of the materials they list. That’s not the case with the 5th Degree, as it does very well with both herbs and waxes in my experience.

The dual quartz rod atomizer for waxes did an especially good job, generating vapor that was dense, smooth and flavorful. The stainless steel herb chamber did well too, but I recommend avoiding the highest temperature. It’s a bit too hot for vaping dry herbs, and the result is harsh vapor. The lower two temperatures were much more enjoyable, especially if you appreciate flavor.

Look and Feel

Like I mentioned above, this has a rather simple design, but somehow it also comes across as sleek. I like that the Prohibited logo is off to the side and unobtrusive, and the four color options all look good in my opinion.

They are black, baby blue, purple, and white. The device also has a nice shape and it feels sturdy in your hand.

The 5th Degree is more discreet than most vaporizers. The small size is an obvious plus, as it is very easy to keep concealed even when you are using it. More importantly, the cartridge system makes it easy to simply discard the only part of the vape that touches your herb or wax.

If you are ever in a situation where you know you’ll have to deal with people after using your vape, you can throw out the cartridge and just get more when you get home.

Ease of Use

This is extremely easy to use. Three clicks will unlock it, then two more clicks will make the temperature indicator lights start cycling through the different levels. When the lights are showing the level you want to vape at, just click the button one more time to select that level.

You can make the device begin heating anytime it is unlocked by pressing and holding the button for a few seconds. That’s really all there is to it, other than swapping out the tanks and charging it, and both of these actions are made easier thanks to magnetic connections.

The portability of the 5th Degree is also excellent. It’s got a small size and a good battery, which is a great start.

On top of that, the materials and design make it very durable, which means you don’t have to ever worry about breaking something during normal use or transportation.

Warning: Not Compatible with ZEUS Iceborn
This vaporizer is not compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of compatible units, so we highly recommend considering a whip-compatible vaporizer to take advantage of this stellar ZEUS accessory item. All compatible vaporizers will have a compatibility notice.

Prohibited 5th Degree Color Abailability

The Prohibited 5th Degree is one of the best 2-in-1 vaporizers that I’ve ever tried.

The performance for both materials is very good, and it doesn’t feel like you are sacrificing vapor quality for the ability to vape multiple materials. This is almost always the case with this type of vaporizer, which makes the 5th Degree all that more refreshing.

Aside from that, I also like the appearance and portability of this vape. Beginners will also like how easy it is to use. The only real downside is the lack of full temperature control, but the included options work well enough that you probably won’t miss it that much.

Long story short, this is an awesome buy for anyone looking for a device that will let them vape both dry herbs and concentrates.

If you are looking for a unit that will give you more of a rig like experience for waxes and water filtration for dry herb, we recommend checking out the Focusvape Tourist 2-in-1 vaporizer.
