Yocan Evolve ‘C’ Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

The build quality of all Yocan products are pretty good – they fall around the industry average in terms of materials used. This wax and oil pen uses a magnetic charger, a screw on mouthpiece and 2 510 thread cartridges. One for oil and one for wax concentrates. The oil tank is top fill and the wax atomizer uses 1 quartz rod coil. Both designed to be anti-leak proof.

The Yocan Evolve ‘C’ uses a 650 mAh battery. Not the most powerful but strong enough for wax and oils. Wax and oil devices do not require as powerful of a battery to operate as dry herb vaporizers. If you were to put a 650 mAh battery in a dry herb pen you would get like 10-15 minutes of use and not very powerful draws. But the 650 mAh battery with liquids especially will get you quite  bit of usage.

Vapor Quality

I found that the best results with the Evolve ‘C’ occur if you feather the fire button effectively with your draws. To load the ‘C’ oil cartridge you simply twist off the mouthpiece and unscrew the top of the cartridge. It uses a top fill system. The wax atomizer you will place some material using your dab tool onto the coil.

The vapor production is plentiful with this device. You can generate big clouds pretty much instantly. The temperature is variable voltage so you will need to get some practice i to get used to it.

Look and Feel

Overall the look and feel of the Yocan Evolve ‘C’ is similar to that of a vape pen, I think it’s a good looking device that has a good feel. The casing is smooth and it does not get overly hot in your hands. The airflow could be improved upon with better airflow holes.

The window on the mouthpiece that falls over the tanks allows you to see the remaining amount of wax or liquid without having to twist anything off.

The compact pen shaped nature of this device allows it to be concealed in a discrete manner. It’s not as small some of the other wax pens in terms of thickness but it can fit into your pocket nonetheless. This pen is designed to blow clouds and receive big hits.

The black version is by far the most discrete followed by the silver version. When the device is actually being used it is not that discrete, afterall its a cannabis vaporizer designed to create clouds.

Ease of Use

The Yocan Evolve ‘C’ is a simple vape pen to use. If you are unfamiliar with the loading of dabs onto the coil or filling the oil tank with CBD or THC oil it will take a session to understand. But after you do it once it will be very easy and straightforward.

The pen turns on by pressing the power button 5 times quickly in a row. To turn it off you do the same. This is standard with vape pens and is a safety feature so that you does not turn on by accident in your pocket.

To apply heat and actually vape you will need to press and hold the power button or fire button. This will activate the battery to the cartridge and heat your material. Give it a quick second or two to heat up and vape away. It’s always a good idea to run your new devices through a heat cycle with no material to clean away any residues or materials from the manufacturing process.

The 650 mAh battery and the compact size of the Evolve ‘C’ make it great for wax and oil portability. If you are a new vape pen user and are looking for something simple, and easy to use for on the go use – the Evolve ‘C’ is a good solution.

It would have been nice to see this pen come with a carrying case that would also store your materials and extra cartridges. But those are easy enough to find for a pen of this size. Something unique to many of the Yocan wax devices is the built in silicone concentrate jar – this particular model does not have this feature though.

I like the hits that the Yocan C pen delivers since they are quick and powerful. I like the price point, and the overall build quality is good considering what you pay to get itt. The things I don’t particularly like about this vape pen is the variable temperature setting. I am a big fan of having at minimum a few default temperature settings to choose from for different points in my session.

Yocan does offer a wide range of wax pens and this one is very similar to that of the Yocan Hive (which is a box mod style more than a pen). I recommend that you have a look at some of our highest rated wax devices that we have reviewed.
