The Crafty and Mighty are known as two of the best portable vaporizers on the market, especially when it comes to vapor quality. The Boundless CF and CFX are very similar to these two when it comes to appearance, which explains why so many people want to know how they compare. We recently pitted the Crafty against the CF, so it’s only fair to compare the Mighty and CFX as well.

When we compared the CF and Crafty, we found the Crafty to be a much better vaporizer, but conceded that the CF is an attractive option because of the low price. Will the CFX compete on more than just price?

Vapor Quality

The Mighty is firmly in the top tier of all portable vaporizers when it comes to vapor quality, just like it’s smaller brother, the Crafty. They both offer the same general heating styles and vapor pathway, though the cooling area on the Mighty is a little bigger.

The heating style is a blend of conduction and convection, and the vapor produced is extremely flavorful and smooth regardless of the temperature you are using. The vapor is honestly better than a lot of desktop units that I’ve tried.

Boundless CFX

The Boundless CFX produces above average vapor, especially at the price point it’s offered. At lower temperatures the flavor is very good, but the performance decreases as it gets hotter, just like with the CF. This is the case with a lot of vaporizers. The hotter you make them, the more the flavor decreases.

This is partly due to the chemistry of heating up a plant and the compounds that are released, but it also has to do with how well the device keeps the heat at the desired level without getting too hot. Overall, the performance of the CFX is very good, but it can’t compare to the Mighty.

Vapor Quality Winner: Crafty

Build Quality

The manufacturers of the Mighty, Storz and Bickel, have a reputation for producing extremely high quality vaporizers. This reputation started with the Volcano but continues through their portables. Both the Crafty and Mighty are about as well built as you are going to find.

The Mighty has some big advantages over the Crafty, including the digital screen that allows you to adjust the temperature and the dual battery design. The only downsides are the fact that it’s made out of plastic and that it’s rather big for a portable vaporizer. Despite these, the overall build quality is very high.

Boundless CFX

Just like the Mighty offers the upgrade of precise temperature control over the Crafty, the CFX offers the same thing over the 5 temperature levels of CF, complete with a digital display. The CFX also adds a magnetic lid and haptic feedback (vibration).

The CFX is a little smaller than the Mighty, but not by much. Like the Mighty, it is also primarily made from plastic. The build quality is good, but not nearly as good as the Mighty.

Build Quality Winner: Crafty

The Mighty is a little on the big side to be a good option if you want to carry you vaporizer around with you while you are out. The dimensions are 5.5″H x 3.2″L x 1.2″D, which places it in the upper end of sizes as far as portable vaporizers go.

The plus side is the dual battery setup, which delivers significantly better life compared to the 45 minutes of the Crafty. Expect almost exactly double, so around 1.5 hours of use per charge.

Boundless CFX

Like the Mighty, the CFX is a little big to be a good option if you need to carry your vaporizer with you frequently. The size is smaller than the Mighty, but not by much. The dimensions are roughly 5.1”H x 2.75”L x 1.25”D.

The battery life is similar to the Mighty’s, though seems to be a little less. Expect anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half depending on the temperature setting you use.

Portability Winner: Draw

For the same reasons that I wouldn’t consider the Mighty a great option if portability is important to you, I also wouldn’t choose it if I were concerned with discretion. The size makes this a very visible unit while you are using it. You won’t be concealing this with your hand, that’s for sure.

I’m not saying that using this guarantees that people will stop and stare, you’d probably be fine if you were smart about when you used it. But again, there are many much smaller units that you can choose instead, including the Crafty.

Boundless CFX

Same problem here. The CFX just isn’t a great choice if you are worried about attracting attention. You could probably get away with using it in semi-public situations without getting caught, but it is still larger than many alternatives.

For either of these units, it would make a lot more sense to go with the smaller ‘sibling’ units.

Discreetness Winner: Draw

Winner: Mighty

The Might is the winner of this matchup!

This really isn’t surprising at all. The Boundless CF and CFX may look a lot like the Crafty and Mighty by Storz and Bickel, but they get severely outperformed in head to head competition.

The Mighty’s win is even more convincing than the Crafty’s, because the battery life problems are addressed with the second battery. I also really like the digital screen with precise temperature control, and the excellent vapor is obviously the kicker.

The CFX is still a great unit, and it’s a good option for people who don’t have the money to drop on a Mighty.

With that being said, both of these units would be excellent choices if you are in the market for a new vaporizer. If you are thinking of picking up a Mighty or the Boundless CFX, we recommend grabbing them from Vaporizera, they have no tax and free shipping on orders over $100.
