Build Quality

Although we thought the APX Wax was okay, the APX Volt blows its predecessor out of the water! Pulsar really listened to feedback, and there have been many necessary improvements. There is a pleasant, functional display, as well as a strong, durable aluminum body.

Not to mention the included chamber is coil-less, so you don’t have to worry about an uneven reclaim.  In addition, the mouthpiece is made from strong glass that keeps your vapor pure throughout the process.

The battery is a 1100mAh, which is a pretty decent size for such a tiny unit. This means you won’t have to charge it very often, even if you are a regular vaper. When it comes time to charge, all you need is a micro-USB charger. The kind most people already use for their phones.

Vapor Quality

The biggest seller of the Volt is the variable voltage for the cost. Most portable vaporizer at this inexpensive price point doesn’t include any choices. This device allows you to pick between 2.5v, 2.8v, 3.2v, and 3.7v. However, experienced users may not be happy without a fully adjustable temperature control.

If you are looking for a smoother vapor, go with a lower voltage. The same goes for those of you interested in the concentrate’s flavor profile. Vapers that prioritize clouds and a harsher hit should choose one of the higher settings.

The biggest downside to the vapor quality is the short air pathway. Since the chamber is right below the mouthpiece, it doesn’t leave much room for the clouds to cool down before they hit your lungs.

This goes double when vaping at higher temperatures. If you don’t like your draws harsh, there are other reasonably priced wax pens that have longer vapor pathways.

Look and Feel

This APX Volt looks like a squat eCig, and it’s available in a wide variety of colors. These are silver, black, blue, wood grain, THC molecule, and tie-dye. The vaporizer itself feels like a strong unit you don’t have to worry about.

In terms of discreetness, this vaporizer passes with flying colors! The Volt is a compact, 3.5-inch tall device.

Even though it is wider than other pens on the market, it looks a lot like an eJuice mod. In fact, most people can completely cover the body in their palms.

Ease of Use

Even if you’ve never used a vaporizer pen, don’t worry! This Pulsar device is very easy to use, even for beginners.

To start, remove the mouthpiece. Since it is made of glass, be sure to set it somewhere safe. Then, drop a small amount of wax into the oven. This should be about the size of a grain of rice.

Now, replace the mouthpiece.

Press the only button on the unit 5 times to turn it on. Now, adjust the handy variable voltage. You can do this by double-clicking the button. If you aren’t sure where you are voltage-wise, simply look at the display.

After choosing the correct heat level, hold down the button to heat up the unit. Wait 5 brief seconds and then take your first draw. Congratulations! Now you know how to work the APX Volt!

The miniature size makes this unit easy to carry in just about any medium. The long battery life adds to this pen’s portability. You can take it on multi-day backpacking journeys without having to bring along the charger.

Unfortunately, the Volt’s mouthpiece is glass. This hinders portability in that you must take care when transporting. Although the material is of a higher quality, it still needs to be protected from long drops.

Overall, we were impressed with Pulsar’s second-generation wax pen. The APX Volt has a lot to offer at such a low cost to the vaper. You get a long-lasting battery, variable voltages, portability, discreetness, and quality clouds. However, those trying to keep their distance from glass and harsh draws should find another affordable pen.
