The stylish Joyetech Espion mod is made from zinc alloy and is available only in 3 different color options. Joyetech wants the Espion mod to look like a vaping device for grownups so they avoided the fancy, young and hip bright colors and made the Espion available only in black, blue and gunmetal.

Personally, I like the dark colors as they perfectly match the ribbed design of the body and the silver firing button. On the top, you will see the press-fitted and centered 510 connection which has threads made of stainless steel and a gold plated and spring loaded 510 pin.

The 1.45 inch TFT color screen on the front displays the time, dual battery indicator, power, voltage, resistance and a puff counter. Below the screen is where the function and the up and down buttons are placed and on the bottom is the USB port which can be used for upgrading the firmware and has a 2A quick charging feature.

On the bottom of the Espion is a sliding battery door with venting holes for two 18650 batteries. The ProCore X tank is primarily made of stainless steel and is available in stainless steel and black. It features a flip-open top filling design for easy juice refilling and dual adjustable airflow control.

The tank comes with two glass tubes, a standard 4.5 ml glass tube and a 2 ml glass tube. Since the Espion is a variable device, it comes with various safety features to ensure the users that the mod won’t blow up like some mechanical mods.

It has an onboard reverse polarity protection to protect the device from damage in the event you installed the batteries incorrectly and a dual circuit protection to protect the device from over-charging, over-current and over-discharging.

Overall, I like how Joyetech went with the build and design of the Espion mod. It looks mature and I like how it stands out from the common design on most of the mods on the market.

Vapor Quality

The ProCore X tank comes with two coil heads, the Pro C1 0.4 ohm coil head and the ProC1-S 0.25 ohm coil head. The 0.4 ohm coil head is the pre-installed one and is rated to use between 40 watts to 80 watts and the 0.25 ohm coil head is rated to use between 25 watts to 55 watts.

The 0.4 ohm coil head is perfect for those who want to get a balanced flavor and vapor out of their e liquids and the 0.25 coil head is perfect for those who want a smooth mouth to lung vaping experience. The ProCore X tank has a dual adjustable airflow which will allow the user to adjust how much air to go in the coils.

So basically, you can set it as open as it can be to get a nice airy drag or as close as it can be to get a tight restrictive lung hit which most new vapers like since it simulates a cigarette drag. The Espion mod can output up to 200 watts which gives everyone plenty of power to get the most out of the coils they are using.

The mod also has temperature control for advanced vapers who like to use nickel, titanium or stainless steel coils for their vape and it can fire from 200 degrees to 600 degrees Fahrenheit and 100 degrees to 315 degrees Celcius, perfect for those who want to get the most flavor out of their e liquids.

Joyetech Espion flat display

One of the things I like about Joyetech’s Espion is its big 1.45 inch color screen. It doesn’t just show you how much power you are vaping on, or what the resistance of the coil is, it can also show you the time and date. Most people will say that it’s just a gimmick but I find it a very nice feature since I vape a lot and I have a mod in my hand most of the time.

You don’t have to get your phone out of your pocket just to check the time, it’s pretty convenient. Thanks to its big color display, seeing all the essential information is a breeze, and what’s more you can even change the color of the interface from black, white, green, blue and brown.

As I mentioned earlier, the ProCore X tank comes with two glass tubes, a 4.5 ml glass tube and a 2 ml glass tube. Personally, I like the 2 ml more since it looks low profile and I have a juice rotation and don’t want to be stuck on one e liquid flavor for a long time.

The 4.5 ml glass tube is perfect for those who don’t want to refill the tank from time to time or if you’re going out and don’t want to bring bottles of e liquid with you.

The Espion mod is only 83 mm tall, 44 mm wide and 28 mm thick. Even with the ProCore X tank on, it is not too bulky and can fit in your pocket easily.

The Espion mod can also be locked with the use of the function key below the screen and it will also turn the screen off which will save battery life and will give you peace of mind when carrying it around.

The Joyetech Espion ProCore X kit is perfect for new vapers and old vapers alike. New vapers will love the design and build quality of the Espion mod and the vapor quality the ProCore X tank can deliver. Advanced vapers will benefit from its functionality and features especially the big color screen and the temperature control.
