Joyetech EGO One Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

The eGo ONE’s build quality is above average, especially for the price. Everything is well machined, and there doesn’t appear to be any manufacturing flaws that would prevent the vape from working properly.

The device doesn’t offer any type of control over voltage or wattage, but using different coils will allow you to change the amount of watts being used. There is a 1 ohm coil that has restricted airflow meant for mouth-to-lung style hits, and there is also a .5 ohm coil that provides more airflow for direct lung draws. The inclusion of a subohm coil with the eGo ONE is a pretty cool feature, and one that people who like big vapor clouds are sure to enjoy.

One part of the design that is a bit frustrating is the fact that the tank doesn’t offer much volume, but this was probably intentional in order to keep the overall size as small as possible too. Fixing this is as easy as putting a different tank on top of the mod.

Vapor Quality

The vapor quality was very good when you consider the fact that you don’t have any control over voltage, wattage or temperature. Every draw was smooth and flavorful, and even the 1 ohm tank was able to put out pretty good clouds.

The fact that such a small, stealthy unit can also handle subohm coils is pretty cool as well. Even though you have no direct control of wattage, using a coil with lower resistance will naturally mean more watts at the same amount of volts when compared to the 1 ohm option. In other words, you’ll still be able to make some pretty big clouds with this thing!

The base of the atomizer also has an airflow ring that you can adjust. Turning it clockwise will decrease the airflow while counterclockwise will increase it. Small adjustments here can affect vapor density, smoothness, and even overall draw size.

If versatility is what you are after, you may want to keep looking. There are so many units (like the Joyetech EVic VT) out there that offer variable voltage and variable wattage, plus many are now even adding temperature control to the list to make sure all of your draws are consistent from beginning to end. This has none of that.

As I’ve mentioned previously, you do have the option of using coils with different resistance levels. That’s not nothing, it’s just not much when compared to the versatility some newer box mods are offering.

What the eGo ONE lacks in versatility it makes up for in portability. The standard mod can actually be fully concealed in your hand, though it does stick out a bit when the tank and drip tip are on top. Being as small as it is makes it very easy to carry without feeling encumbered.

The shape is also nice in that regard, as it feels much better in a pocket than any box mod could. The lack of bulk and cylindrical shape allow you to carry it without really noticing it at all.

You still have a pretty big decision to make though. There are two battery options with the eGo ONE. The first is the stock 1100mAh option that delivers less life but is incredibly small. The second is twice as big at 2200mAh, but this option is physically bigger as well. Choose the 1100mAh battery if a small, discreet size is most important, or go with the 2200mAh option if you want it to last longer in between chargings.

The Joyetech eGo ONE is definitely an outstanding deal for the price. While the lack of versatility may be a turnoff for some, it does make this extremely easy to use which is good for beginners and anyone without much vaping experience. You won’t find many vapes that can deliver such good vapor with such little hassle.

This also offers a great blend of durability and portability. If you are looking for a small unit that can handle being carried around in your pocket, this would be a good option to consider.

If the lack of wattage and temperature control is a dealbreaker for you, then you should keep looking and focus on box mods like the Kanger Nebox. While these will almost certainly be bulkier, the extra space is dedicated to sophisticated designs that allow for these additional features.
