Welcome to our review of the Kanger Subox Mini. Kanger is one of the biggest vape manufacturers in the world, so we’re excited to dig into one of their more popular units to see what kind of performance can be expected from their units. This unit offers a 4.5 ml tank and up to 50 watts of power. There are two different coils included, including one that is specifically designed for mouth-to-lung style draws. The vapor that it creates was surprisingly smooth, but even cloud chasers will be impressed by the vapor that this delivers when maxed out.

Product Pros

  1. Large wattage range
  2. Good vapor quality
  3. Nice tank size
  4. Sleek design

Product Cons

  1. Not the most portable
  2. Tank leaks
  3. No temperature control

Kanger Subox Mini Full Kit Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

The build quality for the Subox Mini seems pretty good. While the tank looks like a simple Subtank Mini, there are some small improvements to help it to perform better than expected such as taller coils and improved airflow control.

As far as design goes, this unit really excels. The unit we reviewed had a red on black color scheme that gives off a high-end and mysterious vibe, but other colors are available as well.

One thing worth mentioning is that some people have problems with leakage and have to replace seals. We didn’t have this problem and assume it has been fixed, but we want to be thorough!

Vapor Quality

Overall, the vapor output of the Subox Mini was much better than we expected. The wide range of wattage options ensures that you can play around until you find a setting that you enjoy. Higher wattages will deliver warmer and more dense vapor, but to our surprise this unit managed to keep things pretty smooth even when we tried it between 40 and 50 watts.

As you lower the watts, vapor gets more smooth but also tends to get thinner. Again, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of vapor we were able to get even when we dropped the watts below 10.

The Subtank Mini and the included atomizers provides great flavor, there was no influence of taste from both the tank and coils, just the pure flavor of our juice.

Kanger Subox Mini Tank & Atomizers

There are enough options with the Subox Mini that beginners should be completely satisfied. The wattage range is above average, and the kit comes with two different coils. The first is a pretty typical .5 ohm coil that is perfect for use above 20 watts. We found that the sweet spot is right around 40 watts.

The second coil is rated at 1.5 ohms and is actually designed for mouth-to-lung draws (rather than a straight lung hit). This means that your draw will be more restricted, creating a two-step inhalation process. This coil performs best under 20 watts.

The Subox Mini is small, but can’t compare to some of the new designs that are available, especially with the way the tank sticks out on top. And while we’re discussing the tank, another problem is the fact that it fills from the bottom. While this is a pretty common design, it makes it much harder to refill the tank while you are out and about.

On a more positive note, the removeable batteries mean that you can keep several charged and ready to go at all times. This should help you keep vaping without having to stop and charge your unit.

I think this would be a great unit for anyone who is taking their first step into box mods or for people that are brand new to vaping. It’s a very easy device to use and delivers good vapor without much hassle. There are enough options to ensure that everyone can find settings that they enjoy using, but not so many that inexperienced people would get overwhelmed.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying that this would be a bad vape for people who are more experienced. It’s just that if you already have a box mod or two that you enjoy, you probably won’t find anything particularly unique or exciting about this one that would justify making another purchase.

The Kanger Subox Mini may not be the most revolutionary vape on the market, but it’s one that is definitely a good value and a great option for people who want to get their feet wet!
