Kind Pen Dream Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

The Kind Pen Dream is built in part with aluminum and glass components which give it a higher than average build quality. The Dream Pen comes with 2 coils, one made of ceramic and the other is dual quartz. The Dream Pen can be purchased in a variety of colors such as gold, white, and black color combinations.

A testament to the build quality and confidence in the product from the manufacturer is that the device comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Kind Pen Dream uses a pretty good battery – a 1500mAh is above average for wax concentrate devices. The battery can be charged using the included micro-USB. It will take around two to three hours for the device to charge full, and on a full charge you can get a little over an hour of usage which is pretty good for a wax pen.

Vapor Quality

Vapor quality is pretty decent with the Dream, the lower temperatures do provide some nice flavor and the higher temperatures provide good size clouds. The mid range temperatures are a good middle ground that have average tasting vapor and average dense clouds. The vapor production is nothing revolutionary but it is pretty good.

The glass mouthpiece on the Kind Pen allows you to see the vapor being produced as you take your draw, and the four airflow settings that you can adjust gives you a wide range of options to control the vapor production.

The Kind Pen has 3 temperature settings that you can choose from, they range from 350°F (red), 390°F (yellow) and 430°F (green).

Look and Feel

It’s bigger than most vape pens, it’s not the standard thin size and shape, it’s quite a bit wider. The length is close to the average vape pen and it’s only about a centimeter longer than the ones from KandyPens and Puffco. The width however is about 50% to 75% wider in diameter which although seems quite wide is actually still comfortable to hold and relatively small i comparison to say dry herb vaporizers.

The width of the unit also allows the Kind Dream Pen to use bigger coils which results in the chamber holder more of your material.

The Kind Pen is a fairly discreet unit, it’s not that big and is small enough that you can wrap your hand around it easily to conceal it. As I mentioned in the vapor quality section above the Kind Pen has multiple settings for temperature options and for airflow settings. These options allow you to restrict airflow and choose a low end temperature setting to minimize the vapor that the unit produces. This in itself makes the unit more discrete than most wax pens.

The Dream is 50 to 75 percent wider than the average pen shaped skinny wax pen. This makes it a bit less discreet. The style of the Dream has glass and aluminum which also makes it a bit less discreet. I would however say that it still is small enough to be noted as a discreet unit.

Ease of Use

Portable vaporizers in general are pretty easy to use, the newer ones that have app connectivity and AI built into them are starting to get more complex, but one’s like the Kind Dream are very easy to use. Basically, you just need to load your concentrate into one of the removable heating chambers and start vaping. To turn the pen on and off, tap the base of the unit five times until you see the lights blink.

The heat mechanism for the Kind Pen Dream is activated by a touch sensor which is located on the bottom of the device, so in order to take a draw, you press and hold the sensor while breathing in.

Be careful while using the Dream since it can leak your concentrate down the side if you are holding it on an angle. The Dream is easy to clean and the pieces come apart easily enough.

The Kind Pen Dream is a portable vaping device that is compact enough to easily fit into your pocket and light enough to hardly notice you are carrying it around. The size is a bit bigger than your typical vape pen but it is still a good size for portability.

Glass is usually a red flag when it comes to portability and is a reason why many vape pens steer clear of using glass. With the Kind Pen Dream the glass mouthpiece feels strong enough to hold up while on the go. For security measures it would have been nice to have some sort of protector for the mouthpiece though as if given enough time it will likely break.

My overall thoughts on the Kind Pen Dream is that it works fine and it’s great that the device comes with options such as multiple temperature settings and adjustable airflow. The overall build quality is strong and the vapor production is about average I would say. The strongest component of this device I would have to say is the above average battery that it uses.

At around $100 USD, it’s a pretty good deal but without having any wow factor I think there are more unique vape pens that you will feel more attached to off the get go and have an overall better vaping experience with.

If you are looking for more of a pen style unit we recommend the Thunder 2 and if you are looking for a unit that will give you a rig like experience for waxes and water filtration for dry herb, we recommend checking out the Focusvape Tourist 2-in-1 vaporizer.
