Build Quality

Build Quality

The build of the Megatoke leaves a lot to be desired. The unit’s metal body is clunky and a fingerprint magnet, for the pirce we were expecting much better. It’s just heavy enough to make it feel premium but thats the only thing about this device that feels premium.

That’s due partially to the replaceable 18650 battery, but it fits so snug inside the unit that you might not notice it’s in there at first. The rubber mouthpiece was designed to fit any stem, so using the Megatoke with your favorite glass piece will be a breeze.

The herb chamber is ceramic, which is not often that you see it in electronic smoking devices.

Smoke Quality

The ceramic herb chamber found in the Megatoke produces smoke, not vapor. In terms of flavor and smoothness, it isn’t even comparable to vapor, and after a couple of uses this thing is going to taste super gross. If you want to check out the latest and greatest in the world of vaporizers be sure to check out Portable Ranking Chart.

As you might expect, the smoke production is off the charts. The herb chamber is rather large, and the Megatoke is capable of burning the herb pretty evenly at very high temperatures.

That much herb being burned at once results in massive clouds of smoke. Filter it through a water pipe if you want to save your lungs some stress. Just be sure to pack it fairly tight, but not so tight that it restricts your airflow.

Keep in mind that the tighter you pack it the longer you’ll need to hold down the fire button to see smoke production. With a tight pack it’ll start off slow, but after a few seconds, you’ll get massive clouds of smoke.

look-and-feel

Look and Feel

The overall aesthetic of the device isn’t bad, but it could be better. It doesn’t look luxurious or premium, although it doesn’t seem to be aiming for that. Rather, it has an industrial design that looks rugged and durable. That means it has a low score in style but a high score in durability.

That look won’t bother a lot of people, but realistically the internals could be the same with a nicer-looking shell. It doesn’t seem like they put a lot of thought into the unit’s look, but it feels great in the hand! It’s durable, just heavy enough, and quite ergonomic!

Discreetness

Difficulty

The first version of the Megatoke had a bit of a learning curve due to the fact that your herb would have to be in contact with a coil to burn. They’ve since given the device a few upgrades, including the aforementioned ceramic chamber.

The ceramic chamber makes this device extremely easy to use. In fact, we can’t imagine it being easier. You don’t even have to turn it on because it’s a mechanical system. Basically, it’s only on when you’re firing it. You just load it and hit the fire button. It doesn’t get easier than that.

Portability

This device is pretty compact for an herb-smoking device with such impressive cloud production. The only thing that detracts from its portability is the fire button. It’s always on, so it can fire in your pocket if you’re not careful.

Included with the Megatoke is a piece that covers the button in order to prevent this from happening, but constantly covering that button becomes tedious rather fast.

Portability

Discreetness

This isn’t a very discreet device for a few reasons. If you have large hands, concealing it during use won’t be a problem, but if you have average or small hands, you’re out of luck. The metal used in the body of the device is rather reflective, like chrome, so it tends to draw attention.

A lot of people will likely assume that the Megatoke is a mechanical tube mod for use with e-liquid. Not many herb vaporizers or electronic smoking devices look like this, but there are a lot of tube mods that look similar.

However, If you just don’t want anyone to know that you have this device on you, you should probably keep it in your pocket.

Conclusion

All things considered, the Megatokes leaves a lot to be desired. Sure its portable, easy to use, and it produces thick, high-quality clouds of smoke. But at the end of day it is smoke and not vapor, which is going to result in a device that smells and tastes awful and will be difficult to clean, especially since the chamber is ceramic. If you are going to spend the money on a Megatoke we would highly recommend checking out the Zeus Arc first, which offers impressively thick vapor, which is actual vapor and will be full of way more flavor.
