Welcome to our review of the SOURCE Orb XL by SOURCEvapes!

As the name suggests, this is the vape pen for people who want to go big. It may look similar to their standard SOURCE Orb 3 and Orb 4 options, but the battery is twice as big and the special atomizers hold up to one gram of wax.

The capacity may be more than you need for yourself, but it could come in handy if you like vaping with groups of friends. And even if you don’t want the capacity for any reason, that atomizer also boasts three coils capable of producing extremely strong vapor that is very popular with users.

We’ve heard great things about this unit, but there’s only one way to find out for sure. On to the review!

Product Pros

  • Great vapor production
  • Huge capacity
  • Triple quartz rod atomizer
  • Bigger battery than standard Source Orb 4 models
  • Compatible with Source Orb 4 atomizers

Product Cons

  • Slightly top heavy

Source Orb XL Wax Pen Review: Breakdown

Build Quality

Build Quality

The build quality for the XL is very good, and the most notable part has got to be the atomizers. You get two very good options with the new XL. The first is the classic triple quartz rod with titanium coils that offers a mammoth one gram capacity. This one is an absolute beast.

The other option used to be very similar, just with two coils instead of three, but they’ve upgraded the kit and now offer a coilless option. This one was originally designed for the Nail. You can actually use any of the atomizers from the Nail or Orb 4, they just won’t be quite so big. That’s probably a good thing for your average session!

The battery is 1300mAh, which is double the capacity that the standard Orb batteries deliver. It’s not quite as big as the 2200mAh box mod that comes with the SOURCE Orb 4 Signature Kit, but the benefit of this one is it keeps you in the slick, cylindrical design.

Vapor Quality

Wow. This thing can deliver monster hits. Even when you know what to expect, the results can surprise you. If you put the triple quartz coil on and even partially fill it, you better get ready. I’ve always thought that SOURCE vaporizers could deliver amazing vapor strength, but this is a whole new level.

Besides strength, the flavor is also good. You get a nice range of draw resistance as well, with five different settings to choose between. I preferred it all the way open, but you can keep it pretty restricted if that is more your style.

Look and Feel

This looks a lot like the standard Orb 4, just bigger. It still has the sleek, curvy design with the metallic exterior. It’s only available in the black chrome finish, but this color looks great so it isn’t really a drawback in my book. Overall, I’m a big fan of how this pen looks. In my opinion, its one of the best looking options on the market.

The only slight drawback is the fact that it feels slightly top heavy. Not a big deal, but still worth mentioning.

I think that this particular model of the Orb line favors vapor production over discretion. If you are concerned about keeping a low profile, then you probably don’t need a triple coil atomizer with a one gram capacity!

With that being said, there is no reason that you couldn’t use this without drawing a lot of attention to you. I’d opt for the coilless atomizer and turn the voltage as low as possible. This should help keep visible vapor production to a minimum, while still delivering good results.

Ease of Use

These pen style vapes are extremely easy to use. You just click the button five times to turn it on, then press and hold it to engage the heat. Adjusting the voltage is as simple as turning the very bottom of the unit between the eight different settings.

As a bonus, the newer XLs also have the improved Orb design. This means they only have two pieces and the tops are extremely easy to remove to add more wax to your atomizer.

This comes with a well-designed carrying case that makes a big difference in portability. The size of the case is 6 by 3.5 inches, meaning it can easily fit inside a backpack or purse. I think it would be a bit of a stretch to carry the case in your pocket, but you could always carry the pen without the case.

The bigger battery is also nice. This will make sure you can comfortably vape all day without worrying that you will run out of power.

The SOURCE Orb XL is definitely a great option if you are looking for a high-capacity, hard-hitting wax pen. This thing delivers absolutely massive hits with the triple coil atomizer, and the one gram capacity makes it a great option for people who like vaping with groups of friends.

If you don’t plan on using the bigger atomizers, then your money is probably best spent elsewhere. The Orb 4 Premium Kit will give you more atomizer options, but you’ll also be getting a smaller battery. The Signature Kit offers improvements like temperature control and variable wattage, but you’ll need to spend more to get it as well.

If you have a chance to try any of these, come back and let us know what you think. If you try multiple, we’d love to hear your own comparisons!
