Welcome to our Vapir NO2 vaporizer review! The NO2 is a portable vaporizer from manufacturer Vapir. It’s been on the market for years now and many people have developed a bond with this unit. The vaporizer comes with a rechargeable battery, power cord, mouth piece, wire cleaning brush, tube attachment, 2 bamboo cleaning sticks, a scooping cup, and 4 spare mesh screens.

This unit was one of the first portable vaporizers to reach the kind of popularity that stationary units like the Volcano had, being reviewed by a number of popular outlets in 2010. It’s still on the market, so we did another blast from the past review to revisit this old classic.

Vapir NO2 Vaporizer Review: Breakdown

Quality

Build Quality

Build Quality

The build quality of the NO2 is average. They used a lot of plastic components in putting the device together, but this keeps it lightweight and affordable. Of course, vapor quality suffers, but the unit  is more for those who prefer a utilitarian looking vaporizer that delivers quick vapor.

vapor-quality-icon

Vapor Quality

Because of the NO2’s digital display, you get very accurate temperature control down to the degree. You can set the display to either Celsius or Fahrenheit, and the unit reaches temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius).

As we said, the vapor quality of this vaporizer isn’t great. The plastic mouthpiece doesn’t do much good at keeping our botanical’s natural taste intact, and the vapor can be a little bit warm at the higher temperature settings. Despite the less-than-perfect vapor, you can get some very thick clouds from the unit, especially at the higher temperature settings.

Design

look-and-feel

Look and Feel

The NO2 feels more like a microphone than a vaporizer. With the rechargeable battery inserted, it has a good weight to it that really makes it feel sturdy. It doesn’t look like anything too special – a simple cylindrical plastic chassis with an on button and temperature controls.

Discreetness

Discreetness

Discreetness is one thing the NO2 sort of misses the mark on. Its design doesn’t allow you to conceal it in your hands, and a discreet vaporizing session with this vaporizer make you look like you’re jamming out on a portable karaoke machine. That’s not even discreet in a karaoke bar. When was the last time you saw a portable karaoke machine?

Difficulty

Ease of Use

The NO2 is really easy to use and is great for beginners. You simply load the heating bowl with your botanical of choice and turn the unit on with a push of the power button. The unit climbs up to the temperature you’ve selected in a minute or two, and you can take a draw on the mouthpiece. Even if you doze off using the unit for the first time you’re covered – the manufacturer designed a 20 minute shutoff feature that turns your unit off after that much inactivity.

Portability

Portability

The NO2’s battery is good, lasting 70 minutes of continuous vaporizing with a full charge. A cool thing about this vaporizer is the battery isn’t screwed into the unit, but comes out just like a regular rechargeable battery. This means you could buy and charge as many batteries as you needed for your trip! This will keep the unit running on long road trips or at the campsite.
Another nice quality of the unit is that you can use the unit while it’s charging, so if you’re at home and forgot to charge it up you can just plug it in and start vaping right away!

Compatible with ZEUS Iceborn
This vaporizer is compatible with the ZEUS Iceborn, a revolutionary new vapor cooling system engineered by Canadian vape manufacturer ZEUSArsenal. The Iceborn is designed to produce cooler draws and bigger clouds when connected to your vaporizer. The vapour produced is ultra smooth and crisp and because of ice cooling, instead of water filtration, there is no loss of efficiency. The ZEUS Iceborn adds an additional 2 points to the vapor quality score of this vaporizer and is a highly recommended vaporizer accessory.

The NO2 isn’t a beautiful vaporizer but it is always there in a jam. Many people have had theirs for years, and they swear by them as reliable and easy to maintain. We like it for what it is, but feel that there are better units in the same price point.

In its heyday the NO2 was the best portable you could find, but the technology has evolved so much since then that it’s a different story now. If you’re feeling retro and want to appreciate what people had access to in 2010, take a walk down memory lane with a trusty old NO2.

I had the Vapir One 5.0 and I could not stand it! The thing leaked at every crack and corner (even out of the buttons) and had a weird plastic aftertaste. Also, I could see and feel the temperature fluctuate constantly. It would not surprise me to hear the N02 having the same issues.

I wouldn’t recommend anything from Vapir to anyone. Besides, don’t they give customers only a 30 day warranty? That alone says more about the product then I need to know.

Oh man, that really sucks. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with the 5.0. I’m pretty sure Vapir actually gives a 1 year warranty, but most stationaries are at least 2 years…
