Build Quality

Build Quality

The Xvape Cricket is one of the lower priced units in the wax device category. The build quality is something that reflects the price and at a cost of under $30 you will expect a product to be cheaply made. Having said that, for the cost of the unit being comparable to some disposable pens you do get a product that you can use for a good length of time to at least see if vaping concentrates is something that you enjoy. With the Cricket vaporizer, the areas that fall short in comparison to vaporizer of higher quality are the battery life, vapor quality and versatility.

A typical vape pen will house a battery of about 600+mAh compared to the 350mAh battery that the Cricket uses. This is one of the small batteries I have ever heard of in a wax pen. The device is very small and slim which means less room for a battery, but for a portable device you usually want something with a bit more juice. A benefit to having a smaller battery such as this one is that you can charge it in about 1 hour.

Vapor Quality

The Xvape Cricket does produce visible vapor and a good amount of it, but the quality of the vapor that this unit produces is not the type you ultimately want. The temperature that the coils heat up to is a bit too high and the vapor gets too hot to be enjoyable. The point of a vaporizer is to not combust your material, and I’m pretty sure that this little device is heating on the higher side of things.

The Cricket does not offer any temperature controls and operates as a variable voltage unit. The longer you hold the fire button the hotter it will get. You can try to feather the button with a combination of inhalation techniques but ultimately you are fighting the unit to try and make it do what you want it to.

look-and-feel

Look and Feel

As you can tell by the images of the Cricket on this page the unit is pretty basic. The Cricket has a battery, a magnetic mouthpiece, and heating element accompanied by one button.

The design is as simple as you can get and the materials it’s made with are of average to low end build quality.

The Cricket is a portable vaporizer without any bells and whistles and one that may sit on your shelf and not get used.

Discreetness

Discreetness

If discretion is your game and you are on the lookout for an ultra slim wax vaporizer than the Cricket might be a good option for you.

The fact that this device does not offer any temperature controls will give you a bit less discretion since you can’t vape your material in a slow cooking fashion.

The quick heating high temperature will also make your vapor a bit burnt smelling which also takes away from the discretion aspect of things.

Difficulty

Ease of Use

The Xvape Cricket is for sure a simple to use device. The Cricket comes with a USB charging dock which twists on to the battery mod and can be plugged into a computer or any charging USB slot. The magnetic mouthpiece just pulls out of its socket and reveals the heating chamber that you can place your material in.

To power the Cricket on you press the only button on the device 5 times, and 5 times again to turn it off. When your device has been charged and your ready to use it you should heat it up with no material in it at first to clean it. Then you can add some wax concentrate, replace the mouthpiece and hold down the fire button while taking a draw. That’s all there is to it, every so often you should give it a bit of a clean as well to keep it in good shape.

Portability

Portability

The size of the Cricket puts this device in a league of its own in terms of ease of travel. The Cricket is smaller than most pens and can easily fit into your pocket or mini travel bag. The battery on the other hand will not get you very far, it takes about an hour to charge but will not get most vape users through a day of use away from a charger.

Conclusion

The Xvape Cricket is a good looking little device and is priced about right, but when you think about what the device is suppose to be used with and for I think the overall conclusion is that you should pay a bit more money to get something more practical. The point of a vaporizer is to help vape your materials more efficiently and to deliver you cannabis in a healthier way. The Cricket lacks the temperature settings to do this effectively and will at times do more damage to your materials than good.
